“Freckles Peptoboy” is a 2011 AQHA gelding standing 15.1 hands and weighing approximately 1,150 lbs. I have used “Spike” for all aspects of ranching, including gathering, sorting, roping, doctoring yearlings, ponying and flagging colts, and checking fences and irrigation. He has also been hauled to a variety of smaller team ropings, barrel races, all-around challenges, and ranch rodeos. Spike really is a horse who has all the athleticism, power, and brains to do just about anything you point him towards. As an amateur roper, he really took care of me at my first team roping jackpots and ranch rodeos this year. He can have a big motor, so I think he would do best with an intermediate rider and up.

Spike has a big old scar high on his right hip from at least 10 years ago. It doesn’t bother him. He also has a crack in his right front hoof. It does NOT go through his coronet band, so it could be grown out with patience and the right farrier. He has stayed sound on it. I have x-rays of that foot from summer of 2024, and I can share those with interested buyers. He is an easy keeper and is sound.
