“Goldie” is a 13 year old grade palomino mare standing 14.3 hands. Goldie is a favorite for everyone to ride whether it be on the trails, in the arena, or working on the ranch. She neck reins, moves well off of leg pressure, and has a background of being a youth rodeo horse competing in breakaway and calf roping! She will run one down and has a nice stop, she knows her job well. We have pasture roped, doctored calves, and drug them to the branding fire off of her. She will work well in close quarters and keeps her cool when sorting off calves. We have moved our herd of cows from pasture to pasture with her and if one breaks from the herd, you can easily chase it down and send it back. As soon as you get back to the herd, Goldie drops her head and walks or jogs off calmly. She is also excellent on the trails! She will ride out alone or with a group and will ride off away from the group quietly. Goldie knows both leads, is soft in the mouth, and rides around bareback. Our kiddos love riding Goldie, whether it be double with us or by themselves in the arena. We trust her enough to push cows with them riding with us. She doesn’t act mareish and travels well with others. She gets along well in the mixed herd of mares and geldings.
